I am a little shocked by the tone of these comments, but I do understand the negative response to her comments. I would challenge her to name one civil liberty that has been revoked by the Bush Administration. The fact that she can make such an ignorant, insulting statement is proof of the freedom we have in this country. If she had said such a comment in Iran, North Korea, China, Venezuela targeted at the leaders of those nations, she would truly learn what it means to lose freedom. Rather, her comment was made on a stage where it was received by laughter from similarly small minded people. It took no courage to make the statement, because there will likely be no consequences to her statement...but this doesn't have to be the case.
Free speech is a powerful thing and America has every right to make that statement if that is what she truly feels, however, as consumers we similarly have the right to express our opinion in a way that can impact Ms Ferrara. Now, I know it's not practicle to boycott all of Hollywood's liberal nuts, but as the Dixie Chicks have learned we can let those that are the most offensive hear our voices. I've seen the show a handful of times, but I'll never watch it again.
